Babette Panels 1-6, originally uploaded by Rina7.
Completed and sewed on panel six (column on left). Three more to go! Photo shows the whole thing being spray-blocked. Don’t know how this will work: I’m using both wool blends and 100% wool yarn. If it does, I will spray block the next panel before joining it to the main work.
I looked at the blanket last night and asked myself: Was this a nutty idea? I mean, is this going to look way too 1970s? But it looks more mellow in natural light, as opposed to flash photography. In Babette I trust. *gulp*

I like it very much.
I think it’s absolutely beautiful.
It looks absolutely wonderful! Can’t wait to see how the other panels turn out!
very nice! i like the square in upper left corner, the green/white/dk.pink/dk.blue one!
i think it is absolutely lovely in the colors you chose. maybe a little retro, but it’s so bright and fun! when (yes when, not if!) i make mine i will likely choose more boring colors that will go with my apartment decor… browns, greens, deep reds and blues… earthy tones… only because i’d like to be able to display such a gorgeous blanket (and all that work!) prominently without worrying about some orange color that looks great with all the colors in the blanket but rather vomitous on my taupe sofa next to my olive and mocha colored walls.
Thanks everyone for the compliments.
Yes, the orange is the most problematic. I plan to rip out some of the orange sections (particularly the ones next to brown) and replace them with something else. Or the brown sections next to orange, if the orange is the outer, sewn-up row.
i like it. i feel the same way about my ripples. i constantly find myself on the verge of frogging the whole thing and starting over. but i’m 70% done, so… just go on, and finish it. if, by then, you don’t like it, give it to your mother in law (if she is a pain) or that freaky pain the behind neighbour (if the mother in law is a good one). that’s what i figure i’ll do, only if i don’t like it i’ll give it to my mom, so she can take it to the ranch, after all, everything that’s ugly and not wanted ends up there, including my much hated ex-sofa
