Crochet and knitting are a major creative outlet for me and, most of the time, an obsession.
As of Spring 2008 I’m finally done with my long, long career as a doctoral student. I’m currently working as a postdoc, writing some articles, doing new research. Above all I’m trying to figure out what kind of career I really want to have, as opposed to the career I might have if I were smarter, “better”. In my private life I love to cook and eat, go bike riding with my partner, dance clumsy hip hop at the Y to great music, and spend time with friends and family.
Comments are nice. I’m kind of shy letting my friends know about my blog, so they don’t visit. If you like what you see here, or have any thoughts to share, a note would brighten my day.

Hey, I was wondering if you can share some pointers on how to get the progress (%) bars in wordpress.com. I know I can’t upload plug-ins, and your blog is one of the only wordpress.com blogs that I found that have the bars. Thanks for any and all help!
Yeah, since I’m not paying extra I can’t edit CSS in wordpress either. My progress bars come from straight-up HTML that I pasted into a Text sidebar widget. A Crochetville member gave everyone permission to copy her progress bar HTML, so feel free to copy the one here. Just right-click on the sidebar and then click “view page source.” The code sequence follows . I don’t know HTML, but it’s pretty easy to see what you have to change. Let me know if you need further help.
One problem with this solution is that with large percentages, the bar looks funky–the box extends to accommodate the text inside it. One of these days I’ll figure out how to get around it.
Hey there, thanks for the comments, thats super cool, btw sorry I failed to mention on my webpage about the Anthro shrug, using 10.5 on simply soft was with it double stranded, I will go fix that now!! Love your page!
